Mojang has just announced that Minecraft will soon be available on PlayStation 5. Though it’s still in the testing phase, fans can try it out early if they have Minecraft on PlayStation 4 for their PS5.
In fact, Minecraft has been playable on PS5 for years but using the PS4 version. This new version of Minecraft designed specifically for PS5 is a fresh build. So, theoretically, it will offer better performance on the console.
"Currently, however, the only way to play Minecraft on a PlayStation 5 is by purchasing the PlayStation 4 version of the game. By developing a native version of Minecraft for PS5, we'll be able to make the game run more effectively on the PS5's hardware," according the Mojang Studios.
Mojang hasn't said how long the preview of Minecraft for PS5 will continue, but anyone who owns the PS4 version can join.
To try it out, go to "Settings" in your PS4 version of Minecraft while playing on PS5 and choose "Preview." This preview features the new Tricky Trials update, where you can explore trial chambers, craft a mace, encounter a breeze, and much more.
The developer requests that players who find bugs during this preview report them to the developer and share any other feedback they have here.
