LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Aron Eisenberg, the actor who played “Nog” on 1990s sci-fi spinoff series “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” has passed away at the age of 50.
Eisenberg’s death was announced in a Facebook post by his wife, Malissa Longo.
“It is with extreme regret and sadness to announce that my love and best friend, Aron Eisenberg, passed away earlier today,” Longo wrote. “He was an intelligent, humble, funny, emphatic soul. He sought to live his life with integrity and truth.”
No cause of death is mentioned in the post, however, Eisenberg had been open about health struggles over the years. According to an article published back in 2015 on StarTrek.com, he told the site that he was born with only one kidney. He underwent his first transplant surgery as a teenager and was expected to undergo a second transplant later that year.
Eisenberg, who played Nog in more than 40 episodes of “DS9,” was a mainstay at Star Trek conventions, where he would often undergo a full costume-and-makeup transformation to go on stage and pose for photos with fans in full character.
