BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) — December is right around the corner and with that comes Bogus Basin Ski Resort’s official opening for the season.
The resort hopes to be open for skiers and snowboarders on December 8.
Tuesday was the first test run for the resort's $6 million, state of the art snow machine system, which was installed back in July.
Managers said it added to the seven inches of natural snow from a storm, last week.
They're expecting a similar amount for a storm coming up this week.
Bogus' General Manager Brad Wilson said the 24-gun snow system is a big improvement.
"Our snowmaking system is so much larger than it has been,” Wilson said. “We probably will make more snow than we've ever made because we had such a small system before. And, then how much we need to make is really going to be dependent on how much mother nature delivers."
Bogus Basin's Nordic Center opened up earlier, this last weekend.
Wilson said that this is one of the earliest openings that the center has ever seen.
