Early Days

After college, Oosterhouse relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry- film and television. There he worked as a production assistant and tape coordinator for Project Greenlight behind the scenes.

He eventually went on to work in TLC’s Trading Spaces, joining the show in its fourth season. The same year, in 2003, TLC added the spin-offs Trading Spaces: Family and Trading Spaces: Boys V. Girls which provided Carter Oosterhouse the opportunity to work with children.

In 2004 Oosterhouse appeared in an episode of CBS Sunday Morning in New York and in 2005 was a contributor to NBC's show Three Wishes. He has also been featured in TV programs such as Rachael Ray, The Today Show, The CBS Early Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, CNN, Entertainment Tonight, and Extra. 

Moreover, he began two new shows Carter Can and The Inside Job on HGTV in the fall of 2007. He worked with Nicole Facciuto on HGTV network’s Red Hot & Green in early 2008 and hosted the same network’s Million Dollar Rooms show in 2012. Carter Oosterhouse began hosting the ABC reality show The Great Christmas Light Fight with co-host Taniya Nayak in 2015.

Aside from TV work, he has also worked as a model- working for Nivea, Lincoln, Hewlett Packard, and Miller Light. In addition, Carter Oosterhouse has had TV appearances for Bud Light, Lake Michigan Credit Union, and Nivea, among others.
