BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — According to a recent news release, the family of JJ Saldaña invites the community to celebrate his life this Saturday at Boise State University.
Saldaña, one of Idaho's most prominent Latino leaders, passed away last Friday at age 49. The release says his family and friends are eager to turn their grief into action and celebration of a life dedicated to serving Latino youth and others.
"JJ's legacy is incomparable," said Rebecca De León, a long-time friend and co-host of the award-winning podcast The Latino Card. "There's not a Latino community in this state he didn't touch. His absence is devastating, but we want to honor his many contributions to the state and the city he loved dearly."
The Celebration of Life for JJ Saldaña will occur from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Boise State Student Union Building in the Simplot Ballroom. Guests are asked to dress fabulously. Capes are encouraged.
All donations will be directed to the Voces Internship of Idaho, supporting young Latinos who want to pursue journalism. Contributions can be sent via Venmo by check at the celebration.
