Stanley, ID (CBS2) — There is a community meeting today at 6 p.m. at the Stanley Community Center for the Wapiti Fire.
Fire crews were able to make progress on Saturday after a cold front moved into the area helping slow the fire that has now burned 68,457 acres.
The fire is mostly progressing to the south of Stanley Lake and is moving east toward Highway 21. Crew's primary focus is to protect structures and property in the area as they continue to build containment lines.
Crews to the East are working to mop up around structures in the Cow Camp area as well as create containment lines around the Halstead, Iron Creek, Goat Falls, and Stanley areas.
Crews are also working to clear trees and debris along Highway 21 as they mop up where the fire crossed the road. Crews hope to open the road for incident resources as they establish containment lines to stop future growth.
