Jhay Cortez is officially Jhayco!

The Puerto Rican singer, composer, producer, and rapper revealed the name change during his appearance at the 2022 Latin American Music Awards in Las Vegas on Thursday (April 21).

While performing his hit “Dákiti” and debuting his multi-platinum hit solo “Sensual Bebé” on live television, the 29-year-old confirmed his name change during his performance after saying on stage, “Ahora es Jhayco, no es Jhay Cortez,” (now it’s Jhayco, not Jhay Cortez) with vibrant lights alongside powerful females, dancers and a DJ.

In addition to the performance, Jhayco won “Single Of The Year,” and “Favorite Urban Song” for “Dákiti” at the show.

Jhayco not only starts a new chapter with his new name, but with a new musical chapter.

“Sensual Bebé” is the first single beginning this new chapter after his album Timelezz led him to become #1 on the radio in the U.S. and his homeland, Puerto Rico, thanks to his song, “Ley Seca.”

Jhayco’s Latin AMAs performance gave the audience and viewers a glimpse of what his fans attending his Timelezz World Tour will experience later this year. The 29-year-old will also have his own Las Vegas residency starting on May 7 at the Élia Beach Club at Virgin Hotel. To purchase tickets, click here and see a list of full tour dates below.
