Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson was born in Santa Barbara, California, to Pentecostal pastors Mary Christine and Maurice Keith Hudson on October 25, 1984. She has two siblings. Her parents relocated throughout the country from the time she was three to eleven years old, establishing churches, before settling back in California and experiencing financial difficulties.

She received her first guitar for her 13th birthday and began performing songs she had written in front of an audience. She began her studies at the age of nine and was soon integrated into her parents’ ministry, singing in church.
