Massey was born on August 28, 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia to parents Angel and Michael Massey. He grew up with his older brother, Christopher Massey, who also became an actor. Massey was interested in acting from a young age and his parents agreed to allow him to pursue the dream.

Career

Massey first appeared on-screen in the 1999 television film, "Selma, Lord, Selma." The same year, he also appeared in the television film "Passing Glory." In 2001, He had a role in an episode of "The Parkers" and then appeared in episodes of "That Was When," "The District," and "Becker," in 2002. His big break came in 2003 when he was cast in the Disney Channel show, "That's So Raven." He remained on the show throughout its four season run, playing the role of the title character's younger brother." The show was very popular and one of the most-watched shows on the channel. He also starred in the 2005 Disney Channel Original Movie, "Life is Ruff."

In 2007, Massey starred in the "That's So Raven" spinoff, "Cory in the House." From 2010 to 2014, Massey voiced one of the main character's in the Disney Channel show, "Fish Hooks." He also played a role in three episodes of the PBS children's educational series, "The Electric Company."

Massey has been involved in a couple of controversies in the last decade. In 2015, the rapper Lil Twist was arrested and subsequently charged with a number of crimes that he had inflicted on Massey and his older brother, Christopher, including assault. Lil Twist had broken into Massey's apartment a couple of years early, attacked Christopher with brass knuckles, and stole a number of things from the apartment. After pleading no contest to the charges, Lil Twist then received a one-year jail sentence, though he only ended up serving seven and a half weeks of his sentence.

In June of 2021, Massey was charged in King County, Washington on one count of immoral communication with a minor. Allegedly, he sent lewd photos to a 13-year-old girl. The criminal charges followed a lawsuit that dated back to 2019. Massey similarly denied the allegations in that lawsuit and state that the suit was actually an extortion attempt. He said that the attorneys representing the girl had threatened to go public with the allegations unless Massey paid $1.5 million.
