The NASCAR Cup and Xfinity garage are in Chicago for the first-ever Street Course Race in the sport’s history. It’s one of the most ambitious projects of the premier stock car racing organization in the 2023 season. The organizers of the event have built a 2.2 miles 12-turned track in Chicago’s downtown.
They have repaved some of the streets and kept the old pavement on others. RFK Racing has spotted one big mistake the contractors made while repaving the roads. RFK’s Chris Brusher has, in a video posted by the team on Twitter, spotted a whole bottle that has been paved into the track. It is a safety issue that should be addressed.
This will be a minor challenge among all the significant challenges awaiting the Cup drivers in Chicago. Apart from it being the Track debut for all and the Course debut for the majority of the drivers, there will also be challenges, such as the shift between concrete and pavement around the track.

Here is how fans reacted to the bottle pavement in Chicago
NASCAR fans quickly criticized the race organizers for the poor work done on the pavement and slammed the workers for the mistakes. Few also used the opportunity to mock the city of Chicago, hinting at its stereotypical reputation.
Securing the pole will be essential to winning the Chicago race, according to Chris Brusher
The RFK driver, who is having a strong 2023 season, pointed out that the Chicago race will be a challenge for all the drivers, and from what he has witnessed in the recent IndyCar Street race, having front row start and a clean outing is the key to winning the race.
“I was watching IndyCar street racing, just realizing how tight it is in a car that’s half the size of ours. We have our work cut out for us. I think the best thing we can do is sit on pole, stay clean, and run away with it,” Chris Brusher said.
“It’s going to be a big challenge for everybody. But, it is road racing, same regard. I do look at that as a good opportunity for us heading into it. Just have to do as much homework as we can,” Chris Brusher added.
